Professional Career

Shivam Kumar obtained his BS-MS degree in Physics from IISER Tirupati, specializing in Complex Systems. His academic background includes extensive experience in data science, biophysics, and computational modeling.

During his studies, he contributed to various research projects:
As a member of the iGEM 2021 team at IISER Tirupati, he worked on developing a computational model for synthetic biology applications.During his Masters he worked on recurrence analysis using multivariate data on binary black hole data.

Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the Computational Science Lab at the University of Amsterdam, working on the METAHEALTH project. His research focuses on multiscale spatiotemporal modeling of the microbiome during the first 1000 days of life.

Research

Shivam Kumar’s research integrates computational modeling, network science, and microbiome data analysis. His work aims to develop models that capture microbial interactions at multiple scales—micro, meso, and macro—to better understand gut microbiome stability and its impact on health.
